My goal in teaching others yoga is to awaken them to life. I spent many years living in the movie of fears and anxieties that played over and over in my mind. Through the teachings of my mentor, Baron Baptiste, I learned that my fears were not me. I can live freely in my strength, connected to the truth. I discovered that the truth I was seeking was already within me. I had just covered it with the fog of my fears. My practice helps me to clear the fog so that the light of truth can shine through and I can live to my fullest.

I am the mother of 3 children, Jake-10, Kera-8 and Luke-7. Like many busy mothers, I didn't take the best care of myself. After having three children, I had gained a lot of weight and was not in the best of health. I finally began working out and even got into teaching fitness classes. I even began road cycling and completed many 100-mile rides. The physical activity was feeling great, yet I still didn't feel healthy mentally or spiritually. I eventually discovered Yoga and something felt right. I discovered Baron Baptiste and Power Vinyasa Yoga at a Personal Revolution Weekend in Dallas. There was a spark lit in me that was indescribable. Before I knew it, I had attended Level I teacher training with Baron in Hawaii and Level II teacher training in Montana. While at Level II teacher training, I found my switch--the switch to turn on life; I also realized that the switch was there all along but I was too busy living in my fears to see it. I now own my own Studio and am a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga Instructor. Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga is life transforming.

My classes will challenge your body as well as your mind and allow your spirit to soar. It is within a challenge that we discover things about ourselves; it is within this place that we begin to feel in order to heal. You will not only chisel away physically, but you will free yourself mentally and spiritually. So, if you are ready to be challenged, to sweat and to break through to new heights, come practice with me at The Yoga Project! See you on the mat.

My yoga journey started with my wife Stacy taking me to a yoga class a couple of years ago. It was hot, crowded and so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Now yoga has become such a huge part of my life that I truly feel like something is missing when I skip or cannot practice.

While attending Baptiste Level I Teacher Training, a lot of things that I have been learning and hearing from Stacy clicked for me. It was like I kind of woke up and now I see my life and the people in my life differently. Of course, my everyday life struggles are still loud and clear trying to play their role, but I now have the tools to recognize and deal with them. I understand that my journey has just started, but I am very excited to have the opportunity to share the little things that I have already experienced and learned with everyone.

When I'm not in the studio I'm either working or spending every minute possible with my wife Stacy and my kids Jake, Kera and Luke. I also enjoy road and mountain biking when ever I can fit it in.

I started “doing” yoga about ten years ago - I approached the practice the way I did most things back then: as another item on my “to do” list to be checked off. It wasn't until I wandered into Stacy's class in the Fall of 2005 that I truly began to recognize and feel the difference between doing yoga and being a part of the practice. I quickly fell in love with Baptiste Power Vinyasa and found myself thinking one day a few months later that, “…teaching yoga would be the greatest job ever!” Another path in my journey opened up in that moment and things continue to fall into place. I started teaching at the studio in August and completed Level 1 Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste in October 2006 (although “completing training” with Baron continues to feel to me like the beginning of many, many new things). I attended Level 2 in September 07 and I continue to enjoy the practice as a student and as a teacher. This practice offers the possibility of complete personal transformation if you are seeking change - come with an open heart and a willingness to let go.

When I'm not on my mat, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband, Michael , and our two kids, Kanaan and Kai. We love all things outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

I have practiced Baptiste Vinyasa Yoga for a year, and it has truly changed my life. It is the medium through which I have reconnected not only to my body, but also to my Spirit, allowing me to quiet my mind so that I may hear the voice of my heart. On both physical and emotional levels, I have learned about commitment and faced the truth of my thoughts, fears, desires, motivations, and what I believed to be my limits. The decision to begin teaching is a natural progression of my own practice. Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga inspires me. Stacy inspires me. And our community at The Yoga Project inspires me. This year I completed Level I Teacher Training with Baron and I continue sharing the joy and transformation of this practice.

Namaste,

Penny

I have never before experienced the connection of mind, spirit and body that practicing Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga brings.  Being physically active has always been a part of my life, and being thoughtful and reflective have also always been important to me, but I had never seen these aspects brought together.  I am learning to bend, flex, strengthen and release every muscle in my heart, brain, and soul.  The peace, strength and stability this practice bring me, in both body and mind, are tools I use on and off my mat every day. Yoga is opening my heart to celebrating life fully as well as teaching me how to meet its challenges with grace.  But what I am learning, most of all, is that there is a difference between playing the notes and letting your life sing, and there is such joy in finding your song.

I am a beginner and plan to stay one for a many many years, but I hope that the things I am learning through practicing Baptiste Power Yoga are things I can share with others as an instructor.

I have been practicing Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga since October of 2006 and I am completely hooked!  I am hooked on the body transformation that has taken place in me and many of my friends, I'm hooked on the numerous mental and spiritual breakthroughs I have had and on how much stronger and more alive I feel.  Yoga has been such a healing experience for me both physically and emotionally that I can't help but tell everyone how good it is.  That's exactly why I teach and why I attended Level 1 Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste in October of 2007 and Level 2 Teacher Training with Baron in June of 2008.  In my yoga practice I have learned so much about myself and who I was created to be. I've learned to drop the old dull layers of doubt and worry and allow the true bright shiny me to break through and glow for the world to see. I want to share the joys of my journey and join others as they embark on a whole new adventure of wellness, strength and power.  "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."  Marcel Proust

When I'm not at the studio (which is rare) I enjoy visiting with my friends in far off places, reading adventure books and rocking out to the song stylings of Jimmy Buffett and U2.
