| Get the Edge |
"Get the edge" that so many pro and amateur athletes have found that unlock their true potential. Let's face it, competing at the high levels is 95% mental. You can build and train your body until you're blue in the face, but if you cannot get yourself out of the way you will never tap into your greatest power and skill.
Learn to keep yourself in the game and out of your head when it's time to perform. Redirect pre-game anxiety with:
- Controlled Breathing
- Positive Thinking
- Visualization to Manifest Success
A few pro athletes who practice yoga:
- Joel Zumaya – Detroit Tigers
- Barry Zito – San Francisco Giants
- Kevin Garnett – Boston Celtics
- Tom Brady – New England Patriots
“Obviously playing professional sports is all about focus and yoga's all about holding a pose and maintaining your focus on that, trying to get deeper and relaxing yourself at the same time. You do that for an hour-and-a-half session, three or four sessions a week, and you become better at keeping your mind on one thing and not letting your mind drift.” --- Kerry Kittles, LA Clippers 2004-05
“I practice yoga at Baptiste Power Yoga, which has studios around town. It's great for flexibility, it's therapeutic, and great for your attitude. And it gets you some silence during your day.” --- Tom Brady, New England Patriots
